Sonic’s Rendezvous Band – City Slang / Electrophonic Tonic

A blast of primal rock and roll energy from members of legendary garage punk Detroit bands of the 1960s: Fred “Sonic” Smith of MC5, Scott Morgan of The Rationals, Gary Rasmussen of The Up, and Scott Asheton of The Stooges. Almost unkown during their time (1974 – 1980) the band had only enough money to mix one song, “City Slang”, so it was pressed on both sides of the single. One side was labeled mono and one side stereo although both sides were identical. This version on Easy Action Records contains the track Electrophonic Tonic on the flipside.

SONIC’S RENDEZVOUS BAND recorded in 1978 only two studio tracks which are in this LP, including the mighty “City slang” plus other tracks recorded live in Detroit in 1978 with excellent quality of sound. A total must for all fans of The Stooges and The MC5 as well as Bored!, Radio Birdman etc. This album has been previously released under the name “Too Much Crank”. Vinyl debut of the legendary Sonic’s Rendezvous Band’s “Basement Tapes” from 1976 ! Previously only available as part of a six CD box set released 15 years ago (Originally released on Easy Action EARS009), this album includes some outstanding live rarities as bonus on the second disc, original photos, new liner notes and a new vinyl master !
